Can't help but ogle and drool over the MB CLK Convertible... very chic yet sporty...just the kind I like in a car...this is really my dream car! Perfect to go around town with my dear John...
As for the MB Stretch Limo, this is my dream bridal car. I first saw this during my college friend's wedding way back 1999, it was just perfect for someone who married the son of ALTECH's owner...they're rich, they can afford it anyway. How I wished that time that someday, when I'll get married, a limo will also be waiting for me outside the church. It was just wishful thinking for me for I know we're not that rich enough for that.
When I attended my first bridal fair last January at Le Pavillon, the limo was on display and my cousins and I just admired it from afar, not wanting to ask the exhibit people because we're not booking it anyway. I just found the rates way over our budget. I was even hesitant to get the simple MBs there. I thought 3.5k for a 3-hour rental is just too much! Talk about being kuripot (I'm half Ilocana... hehehe!). So many bridal fairs have passed...Wedding March, Wed Expo, Mega Bridal Fair... where bridal car suppliers have offered discounts for their services... still I haven't booked one. My option actually is to look for just an ordinary car, not even a Benz, which can be rented for the whole day at the most minimum cost possible, after all, our budget for a bridal car is just 3k... max!
I almost booked AdeB last Wed Expo, but still, I got hesitant mainly because I haven't consulted John about it, and second... I just felt that it's not just worth it... in other words... nag-kuripot na naman ako! Hehehe! Sorry, can't help it... we're on a tight budget and much as I would love to have a Benz for my bridal car, I don't want to be tagged by my future in-laws as a whimsical bride. And so off from the Expo, I went home.... still hoping to find that elusive car within our budget... but deep inside me, I'm still wishing for that dream bridal car.
Until one day... my eldest sister called us up (she's based in NY for 14 years now working as a nurse) and asked me about our preps... what do we still need...blah blah blah... so I told her we still don't have a bridal car. Then she asked me, "Joy, meron ba jan nagpapa-rent ng limo?" I replied "Meron pero mahal..." Then she anwered back... "Magkano ba? Check mo how much then inform me. Dapat yun ang bridal car nyo kc 'di tayo kasya sa ordinary car. Di ba malaki ang gown mo? Tska dapat kasama kami maghatid sayo from house to church..." I was just listening, but I was very excited about it... am I hearing it right? Is my Manang Beng offering to pay for a limo service as my bridal car? Hello??? Kinda hard to believe!! From someone who always aske me to convert peso to dollar everytime we shop ... "Joy, convert mo nga how much sa dollar." Ako naman, being the ever-obedient youngest sis, calculate naman ako... and from someone who buys SM Bonus Packs, which always elicit reactions from us... her quip: "Bakit, mamamatay ba kayo sa BONUS? Sa States nga, may mga bonus packs din eh..." Okay...since she's the boss and the financier in the family, sunod na lang kami.
Then she added "Ako na bahala sa bridal car nyo, sagot ko na un.. pero gusto ko limo!" GASP!!! Eh cympre gusto ko rin un noh! Pangarap ko yata un! So I gave the phone to my mom and went up my room to look among my files.. cympre girl scout... laging handa! Back on the phone, I told her the rates of Trans-Abi, AdeB and Streetline. Among the 3, she liked the package of Streetline the best. So she told me to ask everything about the services, "Do they have chauffers....how about the floral arrangement.. what's the mode of payment (the most important!)...achuchuchu...how much is the downpayment...just text me and I'll send you the money, OKAY?" (in that unmistakable New Yorker twang)... All I replied was "Yes, mam!" (complete with salute ha!) She's the one in-charge and she has the money... and I, too eager and excited, am more that willing to oblige...masunurin akong kapatid kaya go agad ako! Call agad me kay Marichu and asked everything about my (sister's) concerns. Of course, I had to consult fellow W@Wies about Streetline's services... kung ok ba...and having been assured by fellow W@Wie Tine, I booked by phone Streetline for the package of MB Stretch Limo + MB Van (John will be using this for transpo from preps to church).
Yesterday, I already paid 25% downpayment with Streetline, and with that booking, my quest for the bridal car of my dreams has ended and my wish has been fulfilled. Now I know why I kept postponing booking for a a simple Benz as our bridal car..something more grand is meant for us! I'm so thankful to my ever-supportive and generous Manang Beng for making my dream come true. It's only 80 days to before I walk down the aisle.. but first, a ride on my ultimate bridal car... with my mom and my sisters from our house to Sta. Rita... and after that John will be joining me on our way to the reception... sigh!... I just could not ask for more...;-)
This is my dream gown! So simple...so me!
Our wedding preps started with my search for my dream gown...eversince John and I decided to get married, my thoughts have always been on the kind of gown I will wear on that momentous occasion.... and so on to the internet to browse for gowns and everything else I envisioned for our wedding. I had a few ideas in mind on how my gown should look like...A-line (to hide those big hips!), and sleeveless (to reveal those slim, balbon arms)... that simple! Actually I first saw this design in one of the bridal mags my sis has sent me. This particular gown is from David's Bridal (style no. 04F_V8422), and the moment I saw this, I knew this has got to be it!
So I went to my designer Winston Navarro and asked if he can make this simple gown for me...but I was told that it was too simple for such a grand celebration. He sketched a design, a tube one with a "bonggacious" (that's what he called it) design at the back and a full gown (he wanted it to have petticoat but I declined), so he settled for the type of gown like that style form David's Bridal.
Sigh!!! So much for my dream gown. Having seen Winston's creations (I always pass by his shop on my way to work) and I must admit he got some style! Thus, I trust him to do another masterpiece with my gown. Hopefully when i visit him next week, I'll ask for his sketch on my gown so I can post it here.
